Welcome to English

Acadia’s English program offers more than 60 full-year and single-term courses taught by specialists in various literary fields. Our introductory courses present students with a variety of novels, plays, poems, and essays, while also providing them with strategies for developing a clear and persuasive writing style. Upper-year students can pursue their interests and broaden their experience of literature and culture in courses covering a range of periods, authors, genres, cultures, and critical approaches. We also offer several creative writing courses, and we are one of the only programs in Canada that gives undergraduate students the opportunity to write a creative thesis.

There are many ways to get involved in the Department, including attending regular readings and lectures, or joining the writing teams for our publications.
