WELCOME TO ENGLISH AND THEATRE
Welcome to the Department of English and Theatre. We offer a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Arts with Honours and a Master of Arts in English, and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre.
If you choose to study English or Theatre at Acadia University you will be selecting a department that is vibrant, friendly, and concerned about student success. Although we are one of the largest departments in the Faculty of Arts, classes sizes are kept small and students have many opportunities for discussion with professors in and out of classes. Our professors are active researchers and writers in their fields and interested in helping students reach their university goals.
English is an exciting discipline and we want to provide you with the best preparation for your advanced studies. In the first year we aim to help you to develop your writing and critical reading skills so that you can proceed to the wide variety of courses that we offer at the 2000, 3000 and 4000 level. Please browse this website for further details.
For information about the Theatre program, please go to the dedicated Theatre website, http://theatre.acadiau.ca.
Since some students find university standards challenging to meet at first, we have put together a page of information which you may find helpful.
Dr. Patricia Rigg, Chair of the Department, is the academic advisor for all English and Theatre students. For further details concerning the programs of study in English or Theatre, please call her at (902) 585-1503 or email patricia.rigg@acadiau.ca.
