Research Interests: Postcolonial Literature: African and Caribbean; Travel Writing.
Along with first-year English courses, I teach African literature, Caribbean literature, and will also be teaching a course on Travel Writing. My current research interests are in Southern and West African literatures. I am especially interested in thinking through the problematics of representation, and am currently at work on a project that examines the literature of Swaziland. I have previously published articles on writers such as Margaret Laurence, Dambudzo Marechera, and Audrey Thomas. I am also interested in interdisciplinary research, and have written on subjects such as anthropology and literature, cultural translation, ritual, travel writing, and images of Africa in the print media.
